Our vision is to make ageism a non-issue for the next generation. This is not a quick overnight fix but a 7-year plan. We have an audacious goal to dismantle this task force by 2030.
We cannot keep discriminating against such a huge and experienced pool of our workplace population.

How we will get there
We have set out two key areas of focus, with work streams set up to execute these.
1. Awareness
Share insights, stories, research, value of experience, wisdom, and knowledge.
2. Employment & Retention
Collaborate with industry leaders and bodies to create meaningful initiatives and measures.
These tasks are broken into 8 project areas
01
Building alliances with key partners (Advertising industry bodies, DE&I departments, and agency leaders) to raise awareness of this form of workforce discrimination.
02
Raising industry awareness around this form of discrimination through PR and events.
03
Creating and sharing a unifying communications framework for all companies to use to guide their initiatives. (see framework below).
04
Understanding the significant reasons for the workforce drop-off post-40 years and the value of experience through research. And sharing insights that help drive relevant initiatives.
05
Seeking commitments for recruitment and retention initiatives.
06
Gathering supporters through key relationships and activities.
07
Regularly measuring and monitoring the success as an advertising industry.
08
Reducing duplication and increasing ease of addressing this issue by connecting industry to “in common” approaches.

A Unifying Framework
The Experience Advocacy Taskforce has developed a comprehensive framework, inspired by the World Health Organization’s articulation of the three key problem areas of discrimination. This framework serves as a guide for addressing discrimination, particularly focusing on age-related considerations.
To facilitate the development of your Ageism Action Plan, we invite you to utilise this framework. It can be instrumental in shaping your strategies and initiatives, aligning them with best practices and a global perspective on discrimination.
